Building A Business Will Change Your Life
Building a business isn't just about money. β Building a business invites you to look in the mirror... β Only if you're willing to face what it reveals. β It reflects back to you the areas of improvement needed to create the fulfilling life you want. β And that can feel uncomfortable. β To feel those moments of self-doubt when you share your words on the internet with the world. β To question whether youβre βgood enoughβ to build the fulfilling, freedom-filled business you desire. β To realise that stepping into new territory has brought old traumas and patterns to the surfaceβleaving you uncertain about what awaits when you trust yourself to move forward. β You arenβt alone in these experiences. β Iβve spoken to many creators like you at various stages of their entrepreneurial journey. They share that they still experience imposter syndrome, doubts, and discomfort from old wounds as they build their businesses. β A few weeks ago, as my workshop date approached, I noticed a flood of emotions and thoughts: β
β Hereβs what Iβve learned through experience: β The uncomfortable feelings and thoughts on your entrepreneurial journey never go away. β Over time, you learn to sit with discomfort and refuse to let it prevent you from taking action. β As heart-led entrepreneurs, we feel deeply. This isn't something to be dismissed as a problem. Your ability to feel deeply is part of your power. β I started writing online and building my coaching business to help others create the business and life they deeply want through somatic coaching. β As a somatic coach, when working with clients, we donβt just focus on the mental gymnastics at play; we also bring awareness to your internal experiences β the body. β The place where your emotions are held. β Before training as a coach for 7 months with The Somatic School, I had minimal knowledge about what somatics was. β Damn β I didnβt even know that βlife coachingβ was a possible path I could pursue to make money. β Whenever anyone asks me: β βWhat inspired you to do the work you do now?β β I always try to think of the shortest way to respond because the path has not been linear. Itβs been a series of unfolding events that led me to where I am now. β But, as I write this newsletter, surrounded by screaming kids at a soft play venue, with my headphones in trying to block the noise with some smooth piano Jazz music (I promised my sons that Iβd bring them here) β the simple response that came up was: β βI was called.β β And, I deeply feel that. β Iβve always desired to help others in some way. β Maybe you feel the same? β 3 months of therapy. A $40 self-guided Udemy life coaching course. And 7 months of wholesome coaching training later β Iβm where I am now. β Building an online coaching business alongside my 9-to-5. β Of course, making an income so that I could eventually leave my 9-to-5 and have more autonomy over my life was also a reason for starting a business β but not the only reason. β I only realised coaching could be lucrative after binge-listening to coaching podcasts while delivering Dominoβs pizza as my second job in 2022. β Beyond money, Iβm building this business for personal growth, as well as the wholesome experience of witnessing the development of those I coach β even if the people I've worked with are thousands of miles away from me. β
β That's the beautiful thing about the internet. β It's wild. β Your words have the power to connect with others simply by sharing your thoughts (and skills) on the internet. β With the right skills (and confidence), you can create a space for someone on a Zoom call, guiding them to the answers within themselves so that they can overcome the problems they are facing. β As a result... β Deep transformation. β Empowerment. β Aligned action. β A new way of moving through life. β You begin to remember that youβre the architect of your life β no one else. β This is the beautiful work I get to do when working with clients. β Ambitious entrepreneurs who want to build an impact-driven business that fills their hearts and bank accounts without sacrificing their well-being. β And I'm telling you β it's wholesome. β The entrepreneurial journey is filled with challenges. β Many of them aren't external challenges. They're internal. β And, every challenge provides you with an opportunity to look in the mirror and make a decision: β Will I avoid what Iβm feeling? β Or will I allow myself to slow down, feel, and then take inspired action? β Your challenges create choices for you to consider. β Let me ask you this: β Would you rather continue avoiding the emotions you're experiencing on your entrepreneurial roller coaster, hoping theyβll eventually disappear? β Or would you prefer to acknowledge them? β To sit with them. Accept that they're tagging along for the wild ride, even if they feel a little too close for comfort right now. β Knowing that when you accept your emotions, internal shifts happen, supporting you to take aligned action in your life and business. β Carl Rogers encapsulates this perfectly: β The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change. β Imagineβ¦ β Where might your business be if you were to honour the emotions that are present for you now? β Hit reply and let me know: β What emotions are surfacing for you as you build your business right now? β As always, thank you for reading. β Have a blessed week. β Big love, β Coach Mike β β P.S.β Whenever you're ready to lock arms, get personalised support and level up without burning yourself out β here's how I can help: β
